As part of our Museum Residency, we took the Gainsborough group on a creative journey to design and make two large banners for the Go Festival 2025, created as backdrops for the main stage. The festival theme, Go with the Flow, inspired us to look at the fish that swim in the nearby River Trent, exploring their movement and patterns through art.
Together, we experimented with monotype printing to create unique fish designs and flowing textures, before hand-painting the final canvas backdrops as a group. The finished pieces were proudly displayed at the festival and now hang back at the centre — a vibrant reminder of what can be achieved when creativity and community flow together.
