Interplay is a collaborative installation showcasing artwork created during workshops at adult day centres in Lincolnshire. The installation draws inspiration from immersive sensory rooms, aiming to transform the gallery space with pattern, colour and light to evoke different atmospheres. The exhibition seeks to create a dynamic environment within the gallery, shaped by a programme of person-centred activities guided by the preferences and aspirations of the participants.Since 2020, Lumo has collaborated with adult day centres in Lincolnshire through outreach programme. These established relationships have fostered creative activities, culminating in the exhibition on display today.
Work grew through a series of inclusive, hands-on workshops that explored accessible technology alongside traditional techniques such as painting, printing, and drawing. These sessions encouraged experimentation and collaboration, allowing participants to explore new ways of making while building confidence and creative skills.
To celebrate the outcomes of the residency, we invited all the participating groups to a special private view of their exhibition at the museum. It was a joyful occasion where everyone could see their work displayed in a professional setting, share stories, and take pride in what they had achieved. For many, it was the first time experiencing their creativity showcased in a gallery space — a moment of real recognition and celebration
