As part of our Museum Residency, we worked with the Horncastle group to co-create a woodland art trail for the Wolds Festival, celebrating creativity and nature in the heart of Lincolnshire’s countryside.
Over two years, the project grew in scale and collaboration. In the second year, we were joined by groups from Louth and Lincoln, who helped to expand the trail with new artworks and ideas. The Black Bird Flys drama group from Louth also joined the celebration, performing a short play along the trail — a beautiful moment that brought stories, art, and community together in the woods.
Since then, the Horncastle group has continued to build on their confidence and creativity, going on to independently create this years trail — inspired by their experiences during the residency. It’s been wonderful to see their journey grow from collaboration to self-led creativity.
