Gravity Fields – Wyndham Park
The theme for the fourth Gravity Fields science and arts Festival in 2018 was inspired by the work of Lincolnshire born Joseph Banks and the species he documented during his journey to the new world….
Having worked on prevoius Gravity Field festivals this project built on the engagement work we had been involved with.
Working over the summer with members of the Wyndham Park volunteer team we designed a large Flag Iris and set out to make as many as possible to create a swathe of colour across the lake. Coinciding with the opening of the refurbished park facilities and boating lake. We chose to site the work in the lake in reference to the natural habitat of the yellow flag irises that we were depicting.
We were also part of the artist team that delivered workshops in schools around the area to create artworks for a series of processional trolleys to feature during the festival parade night.
